Animate: Bible

Animate Bible Study is a seven-week exploration of the Bible on Sunday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. The Bible can sometimes feel archaic and inaccessible. What do we need to do to uncover and understand the richness of the Bible? This class gives us a jumping-off point to dive into the questions about the scripture that we may have never had the opportunity or space to explore or ask. The curriculum is designed to reinvigorate and deepen our understanding of the Bible. Each session features the unique perspective of a Christian thought leader on the topics listed to the left.

Sunday, Sept. 22   Canon: Mining for the Word with Eric Elnes
Sunday, Sept. 29   History: Parchment to Pixel with Phyllis Tickle
Sunday, Oct. 6      Testament: One Story, Two Parts with Rachel Held Evans
Sunday, Oct. 13     Gospels: Unexpected Good News with Nadia Bolz Weber
Sunday, Oct. 20     Interpretation: Scripture Reads Us with Will Willimon
Sunday, Oct. 27     Genre: Rhythm of Text with Jose Morales
Sunday, Nov. 3      Grace: Love is the Bottom Line with Jay Bakker

Each evening we’ll open with a 10-minute video talk from one of these contemporary Christian speakers, and then Pastor Ally and a member of our Adult Education Committee will lead us in a time of experience, information, challenges and free-flowing table talk.
